[If you’re looking for our student leadership/training Shabbatons, check here]
In keeping with our goal of connecting Jewish students and communities on various college campuses, Heart to Heart helps facilitate weekend-retreats (Shabbatons) between different colleges, focusing on campuses with small Jewish communities looking for venues to enhance their Jewish life. The purpose is to foster grassroots Jewish experiences and connections, allowing students to bond with each other over the timeless gathering of Shabbat. Shabbatons consist of social, educational, and religious programming, tailored to the needs and desires of the participants. All students will be made to feel welcome in the shared Jewish experiences, taking into account each individual’s level of comfort. The hope is that such experiences, networking, and inclusion will encourage and strengthen all participants’ connections and commitments to Jewish life.
So far we’ve been to Clark University, Drexel University, Dickinson College, Johnson & Wales University – Providence, Penn State University, University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, University of Kentucky/Transylvania University, University of Maryland – Baltimore County, and University of Massachusetts – Amherst, running activities such as panels and discussions on Jewish identity, celebratory and explanatory Kabbalat Shabbat, or just schmoozing over desserts and drinks. Each time we’ve been well received and the Jewish community there is always appreciative for the young energy, vibrant Judaism, and inspiring experiences that we bring with this.
We have a partnership with Hillel’s Small & Mighty network and we have rave reviews and recommendations from Chabad rabbis – but find out for yourself how this could impact you and your community!
